In the July/August Catalyst, we said that “The advanced illness of the AIDS-stricken author [John Boswell] will at least spare us from an endless round of fawning appearances on ‘news’ and talk shows.” There are two problems with this: a) it comes across as callous (though the intent was otherwise) and b) it is inaccurate (Boswell, though ill, is not dying of AIDS).
