On February 22, Catholic League president William Donohue received the Catholic War Veterans’ Action Award for his service in defending the Catholic faith. Officials from the Catholic War Veterans, Department of New York, presented Donohue with a special plaque to mark the occasion.

Commander James C. Finkel said this year’s award went to Donohue for his tireless efforts.

“This is for all the work Bill has done for all Catholics. He’s been an outspoken sponsor of the Catholic faith and we’re very proud of him,” Finkel said.

Pro-life Chairman Ignatius Paolilla noted that past recipients include John Cardinal O’Connor, Edward Cardinal Egan and Nassau County district attorney Denis Dillon. Paolillo had special praise for Donohue. “For him, it’s special. He’s been fighting prejudice against Catholics like no other man I know,” said Paolilla. State Executive Director Richard Dugal, Donohue’s post commander, was also on hand for the presentation held at The Catholic League’s headquarters.
