On October 29, William Donohue appeared on “News Forum,” a Sunday morning talk show on the NBC New York affiliate. Hosted by veteran reporter Gabe Pressman, Donohue debated Kelli Conlin of the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) on the subject of abortion and politics. When Conlin lied about NARAL’s position on a piece of legislation, Donohue wouldn’t let it go and twice accused her of lying on TV.
Here’s what happened. Donohue mentioned that NARAL was on record opposing the Child Protection Act. Later known as the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, the bill makes it illegal not to treat a baby born alive as a result of a botched abortion. NARAL testified against the bill and Conlin knew it. So when she lied, Donohue opened fire.
The day after the show was taped, Donohue sent proof of Conlin’s lying to Pressman. He was kind enough to send a copy to Conlin as well. But surprise, surprise, she has not been heard from.
