WHAT DO DEM RADICALS WANT?
It is one thing to disagree with those who hold to contrary political views, quite another to label them crazy. Doing so should not be done with abandon, lest it diminish the credibility of the accuser. But these days, there is no shortage of public office holders, and candidates for public office, who sound more like the inmates in the asylum than they do serious persons.
Two such characters are Abdul El-Sayed and James Talarico; the former is seeking a senatorial seat in Michigan, and the latter wants to be a U.S. senator from Texas. Both are Democrats who suffer from a Manichean worldview that is pathological.
El-Sayed divides the world with childlike innocence, distinguishing between the good guys and the bad guys. What makes him different is who he defines as good and who he defines as bad.
The good guys are criminals and the bad guys are the cops. “Any and all efforts to get people out of jails and prisons and to keep people out of jails and prisons is a policy that we need to be investing in.” This obviously would include mass murderers and child rapists.
The bad guys are those who lock these people up. He says most cities “spend way too much on police departments” and not enough on such things as public schools that “eliminate poverty.” In fact, we spend a pittance on the police and a small fortune on the public schools, most of which—at least in the inner-city—are incubators of poverty. The urban schools that deliver for poor minorities—charter schools and Catholic schools—he opposes.
The good guys are also those who crash our borders and the bad guys are those trying to round them up. “There is no reforming, there is no retraining, there is only abolishing ICE.”
In his mind, both terrorists and their victims are morally wrong. “Hamas: evil. Israeli government: evil.” This is worse than moral equivalency—it is morally irresponsible to equate those who intentionally kill innocents with those who seek to deter them.
Talarico’s black-and-white Manichean dualism expresses itself in a peculiar form of self-loathing.
“I always think of myself as a Christian who hates Christianity, right?” Now it is not normal to turn inward on one’s self, and to do so in public is even more bizarre. For him, however, it is a way of showing the world how “open-minded” he is. By attacking his personal bona fides, he is assuming a moral mantle reserved for himself. How pathetic.
“God is non-binary” and “there are six genders.” He has since taken back these comments, but the real issue is why he felt obliged to say them in the first place. He did so because, again, he wants to show open-minded he is, hoping to impress secularists.
He said a bill requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in the public schools was “deeply un-Christian.” More open-mindedness. Imagine a Muslim objecting to a display of the Koran in a public library because it is “deeply un-Islamic.”
His fawning of Muslims even allows him to lie about history. To wit: he maintains that Christianity—not Islam—is the “most violent” religion.
What do El-Sayed and Talarico want? They want to turn America inside out and upside down. Their hatred extends beyond our borders—they loathe Western civilization. But unlike radicals of yesteryear, who at least had a blueprint—however flawed—to remake society, they are more like little boys who are so dumbfounded by Erector Sets that all they can do is take a hammer to them.
These are the neo-nihilists of the Democratic Party in 2026.
