There is a widespread hoax campaign underway by radical queer and trans activists trying to scare the public into thinking they are “under attack.” Buying into this lie is the United States military.

On June 9, Bill Donohue wrote the following letter to Rep. Jim Banks, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, asking him to launch a hearing on this manipulation of the military. We contacted all members of the armed services committees in the House and Senate.

Dear Rep. Banks:

Your critical comments on the Pentagon’s diversity and inclusion policies are very much appreciated.

As a Catholic civil rights leader, and as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, I am appealing to you and your colleagues to launch a hearing on the Pentagon’s latest irresponsible statement on this issue. On June 7, Gil Cisneros, the Pentagon’s undersecretary for personnel and readiness, was quoted as saying that the “LGBTQ plus and other diverse communities are under attack, just because they are different (my italics).”

This is patently false. Not a single attack was cited by Cisneros nor any other military spokesperson. Space Force Chief Operating Officer Lt. Gen. DeAnna was more pointed, saying, “more than 400 anti-LGBTQ-plus laws” have been introduced in the states this year.

In other words, laws passed by state legislators protecting children from sex-reassignment surgery, and irreversible hormonal damage, are now considered by the U.S. armed forces to be an “attack” on queer and trans persons.

Where is the military getting this propaganda?

At the same time these two Pentagon comments were made, the two most prominent LGBT organizations in the nation were making similar remarks. On June 6, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) said, “LGBTQ+ Americans are living in a state of emergency (my emphasis).”

HRC cited a new report, LGBTQ+ Americans Under Attack, to buttress its point. What is the basis of this alleged “attack”? It cites “more than 75 anti-LGBTQ+ bills that have been signed into law this year alone….” Again, attempts to stop children from having their genitals mutilated are now considered by the U.S. military to be an “attack” on queers and trans persons.

Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of GLAAD, chimed in, referencing the same legislative effort to safeguard the health and wellbeing of children. She said, “This is a terror campaign against our community (my italics).” She provided no examples of terrorism against anyone.

This is an invidious scare campaign. It is designed to impugn the motives of lawmakers who want to protect children from chemical castration, and similar kinds of operations. In the name of human rights, these activists are falsely screaming that their constituents are “under attack” by those waging a “terror campaign” against them, triggering a “state of emergency.”

It is all a pernicious lie.

I urge the Armed Services Committee in the House and Senate to inquire why the military is taking its cues on this issue from extremists. These activists are working against the best interests of children, and that of the United States. Someone in the military must be held accountable.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

William A. Donohue, Ph.D.
President

BIDEN ATTACK ON CATHOLICS STALLS

President Biden wants to force Catholic doctors and hospitals to perform sex-reassignment surgeries. In fact, his administration has been fighting for the right to do so ever since he became president. But after losing twice in the federal courts, his lawyers decided in late June not to ask the Supreme Court to review this case.

At stake is the First Amendment right of Catholics not to cooperate in providing genital mutilation, chemical castration, puberty blockers and other immoral acts.

To show how anxious Biden is to declare war on Catholics, the Department of Health and Human Services issued its “transgender mandate” in January 2021; it was one of the first items on its agenda. To accomplish this end, they amended ObamaCare. They also revoked the conscience protections for doctors that the Trump administration provided.

Biden lost this round, but this doesn’t mean that his administration won’t be back looking for more opportunities to attack Catholic medical professionals. They surely will, but at least for now their anti-Catholic agenda has stalled. That this is coming from a president who calls himself a “devout Catholic” is all the more disturbing.

KELLOGG’S EXPLOITS KIDS—TIME TO BOYCOTT

The blowback against Bud Light and Target for getting into bed with radical transgender activists should have persuaded major corporations not to go there. But somehow Kellogg’s never got the memo. Maybe it will now.

Kellogg’s wants children to understand that transgenderism is a family-friendly ideology. Why else would it feature “Tony the Tiger”—Mr. Frosted Flakes—hamming it up with Dylan Mulvaney (the same trans activist that got Bud Light into trouble) on the red carpet at the Tony Awards?

There is nothing normal about the trans agenda: it is built on a lie, one that denies the fundamental biological differences between males and females. Moreover, those who have elected to “transition” are fraught with long-term psychological and physical problems. So why would Kellogg’s want to push this agenda on kids?

Kellogg’s is no stranger to radical politics. “Since 1930 the mammoth W.K. Kellogg Foundation has given billions of dollars to causes and projects that encourage dependency on government.” That was how a report by the Capital Research Center put it.

The Kellogg Foundation is one of the biggest foundations in the nation, having given away billions to liberal-left causes for decades. Throughout most of its history, it has focused on issues such as welfare, racism, pollution, gentrification, homelessness, the environment and healthcare.

Beginning in 2016, the Kellogg Foundation jumped on the LGBT’s bandwagon. Five years later, the Kellogg Company promoted its “Together with Pride” cereal. Now the Foundation is one of the LGBT’s most reliable donors, fighting state laws designed to protect children from being lured into propaganda about flipping their sex identity.

While the LGBT cause is relatively new, Kellogg’s moral compass has been broken for more than a decade. In 2012, it stood alone among large corporate sponsors of “The Daily Show” in making a thinly veiled defense of perhaps the most blasphemous and obscene attack on any religion ever aired on television.

On the April 16, 2012 edition of Jon Stewart’s show, the host made a strong appeal to women insisting they protect their right to abortion. He could have stopped there, but he didn’t. As he was making his pitch, a large picture of a naked woman with her legs spread was flashed on a screen behind him. In between her legs was a nativity scene ornament, which he referred to as a “vagina manger.”

On May 21, the New York Times published an op-ed page ad Bill Donohue had written condemning Stewart for his vulgar anti-Christian attack. He also asked advertisers to pull their ads, and some, like Delta, did. No one but Kellogg’s refused to condemn what Stewart did.

In a letter addressed to Donohue, he was told, “Consumers speak most loudly when they vote with their remote control and change the channel or turn off the TV if a program does not fit their personal criteria.” This led Donohue to take out an ad in the local newspaper of the Battle Creek company, the Kalamazoo Gazette, taking it to task.

The attempt to make Stewart’s vile assault on Christian sensibilities a matter of individual taste was insulting. There are social norms of decency that most Americans adhere to, and deliberate attacks on Christianity—or Judaism or Islam—are violative of them.

Many years ago, CBS decided not to allow reruns of “Amos ‘n’ Andy,” citing its covert racist leanings. It did not say to viewers, “If you don’t like it, change the channel.”

Given the ideological leanings of Kellogg’s, it is not a shocker to learn that it depicted “Tony the Tiger” embracing Dylan Mulvaney. In doing so, it also embraced the most morally debased movement in the country. One hopes that mothers throughout America will take note and exercise their right to change their buying options. A boycott is long overdue.

BILL O’REILLY CAUGHT IN A LIE

On June 7, we were asked by the producer of Bill O’Reilly’s show on First TV if the host could air our KABC radio ad on the Dodgers. We agreed and sent it to them. That night O’Reilly criticized us for not sharing the ad. That prompted Bill Donohue to issue a statement saying he made a false claim. His producer contacted us and apologized for what happened, explaining that the error was on their end. She said her boss would set the record straight on TV on June 8.

Then we received a phone call from Nicole Casey, the executive producer of O’Reilly’s show. She told our director of communications, Michael McDonald, that their tech staff had determined that the audio file was indeed sent, but that there was a problem on their end with their server. She said O’Reilly would play the ad on his show, admitting that the tech glitch was on their end, and that it was not because the Catholic League would not share the video file. The phone call was amicable.

We thought it was no big deal—these things happen. But then O’Reilly double crossed us, lying about what happened. Here is what he said on June 8.

“So I told you yesterday that the Catholic League would not send us the ad, the radio ad they made objecting to the Los Angeles Dodgers honoring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. We asked nicely. I mean my staff is so nice they are not like me. These are nice people. And the Catholic League would not send it over. So I said if you’re not going to help send it over then we are not going to help you. So anyway, they called, ‘Oh no, no, no, it was a technical glitch, we meant to send it.’ Because in the Catholic religion, if you lie, it’s a sin so there are Catholics and—technical glitches happen all the time. We didn’t get it, they tried to send it, but now we have it.”

On June 9, Donohue unloaded on O’Reilly.

“O’Reilly lied. No one from the Catholic League ever called his office saying we screwed up. McDonald left a message on the phone of the producer wanting to speak to her about what O’Reilly said the night before. When she called back, that is when she said the problem was on their end. This was confirmed by Casey.”

O’Reilly is right about one thing: It is a sin for Catholics to lie.

FATHER’S DAY NOT FIT FOR ALL

Father’s Day can be problematic for those in unusual circumstances.

What would you say about a man who fathered a child out-of-wedlock and then denied paternity—until forced to take a DNA test that proved the child is his?

What would you say about the same man who to this day has yet to even see his five-year-old child?

What would you say about the granddad of this child—a man who constantly brags that he is the granddad to six children—but has never acknowledged that he is actually the granddad to seven children?

Meet the Bidens, Hunter and Joe.

They have both tried to erase the child, Navy Joan Roberts, from their conscience, and from the public mind. The two of them are embarrassed that the child’s mother was a stripper. This may not be redeeming, but to act like Hunter is Mr. Clean is absurd. He has a long and filthy record with prostitutes and cocaine.

At Biden’s inauguration, the newly minted president invited six of his grandchildren on stage, but left out Navy Joan. She was also left out at Christmas: there were six stockings displayed at the White House; none was hung for her. Oh, yes, Hunter is now in court fighting the request to have the child’s surname changed to Biden.

It gets worse. Before his inauguration, Joe Biden refused to acknowledge the child born to Hunter and his wife, Melissa Cohen: Joe told the press that he and his wife, Jill, had five grandchildren, when in fact they had seven. They have since corrected the record (for number six, that is).

Despite Hunter’s lucrative overseas deals, he is crying poverty, saying he can’t meet his child support obligations. Yet he has never made public his tax returns, nor has he revealed his Los Angeles home address and phone number. Transparency anyone?

So who is worse? A father who pretends that a child he brought into this world doesn’t exist? Or the child’s grandfather who publicly boasts how much he loves his grandkids while pretending his seventh grandchild doesn’t exist?

Let’s call it a draw.

RABBI ARYEH SPERO, R.I.P.

Rabbi Aryeh Spero passed away on June 25.

Bill Donohue knew him well and worked with him on many projects over the past few decades. He said he was “one of the most brilliant and bravest men I have ever known. Kind and thoughtful, he was a stalwart in the conservative movement. He was also a good friend of Catholics.”

Aryeh was often referred to as “America’s Rabbi.” He founded the Caucus For America, which is “dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the historic and unique American culture and civilization.” He was also the spokesman for the Conference of Jewish Affairs and was a founding Advisory Board Member of CASEPAC.

Bill and Areyh often joined hands fighting left-wing anti-American zealots. They also took on those who were out to trash Catholics and Jews. Aryeh was an activist who never backed down; he could always be counted on to show up at rallies and demonstrations opposing the merchants of hate.

A man like Aryeh doesn’t come around too often. He was an author, an activist, a media personality, and a holy man. He will be sorely missed.

BIDEN LEADS DISGRACED WOMEN’S MARCH

It is hard to say what motivates the Biden administration more: the radical LGBT agenda or abortion. Both are representative of the radical left’s obsession with sexuality—one queer, the other straight—and both are way out of touch with the sentiments of most Americans.

June 24 was the Women’s March. It has become an annual event run by people who cannot define who a woman is. So we really can’t be certain if real women, as opposed to men who pretend to be a woman, were marching. After all, even the men were wearing dresses. The march has one goal: aborting children. More about the main event shortly.

On June 22, the honor of celebrating abortion rights this year went to the First Lady, Jill Biden. She was expected to put her Ed.D. to good work by deciding who should speak first (her degree, unlike a Ph.D., is in administration, not research).

On June 23, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris participated in an event that included the Democratic National Committee and the nation’s largest pro-abortion organizations: EMILY’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund. Harris spoke in North Carolina with Doug Emhoff, a person who identifies as a man, a.k.a. her husband.

These gatherings were a lead-up to the Women’s March, which this year centered on the Supreme Court decision that overruled Roe v. Wade last year. At the march, all of the aforementioned organizations were there, along with the ACLU (formerly a free speech organization) and others cut from the same cloth. They walked from Union Station in Washington, D.C. to the Supreme Court.

The first Women’s March took place on January 20, 2017, the day Donald Trump was inaugurated. As Bill Donohue said at the time, “Some critics are calling this an anti-Trump rally.” Donohue disagreed, saying, “It is a protest against the American people who voted for Donald Trump. In short, it is a protest against democracy.” At the march were ten organizations that have a history of promoting anti-Catholicism.

The Women’s March in 2018 gave due recognition to street walkers, or what the organizers called “sex workers.” It was reported by Yahoo that the focus was on “the rights of prostitutes, adult-film stars, strippers, and other sex workers as an issue.” Assumedly, that included pole dancers. News stories did not mention whether Hunter Biden was in attendance.

The 2019 march blew up when the anti-Jew crowd assembled. Hosting the likes of Linda Sarsour, a Palestinian Jew basher, and others—all of whom adore Louis Farrakhan, the black anti-Semitic bigot—forced EMILY’s List and the National Council of Jewish Women to bolt.

The 2020 Women’s March was aimed at Trump’s nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. The women’s rights organizers took a page from the playbook of misogynists by making it clear that they would prefer a man who shared their position to a woman who did not. In fairness, the marchers wore face masks (it was during Covid), though they could have done a better job at social distancing (many were holding hands).

In 2021, coat hangers were all over the place. The organizers went on record saying there is nothing dangerous about women using coat hangers to rip their baby from their womb. “We do not want to accidentally reinforce the right wing talking points that self-managed abortions are dangerous, scary and harmful.” That should end the debate.

The violence that marks abortion also marked the Women’s March in 2022. There were actually two events—May 3 and May 14—and both were in reaction to the leak of the Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. Pro-abortion protesters attacked the police in some cities, none worse than in Los Angeles: a bloody scene took place when cops were belted with rocks and bottles. “EAT THE FETUS” was scrawled on the stairs at LA City Hall.

Given the Women’s March penchant for vulgarity, bigotry, misogyny, and violence, this year’s event was interesting to watch. Whoever chose the Biden administration to host this year’s celebration of abortion made a good choice—they have no rival.
