JON STEWART HOSTS BIGOT

On last night’s “Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” atheist author Sam Harris said, “The Catholic Church is more concerned about preventing contraception than protecting child rape. It’s more concerned about preventing gay marriage than genocide.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue sounded off as follows:

In his previous book, Letter to a Christian Nation, Sam Harris criticized the Bible for not containing a chapter on mathematics, and for not discussing electricity, DNA or a cure for cancer. Such remarks put a bright light on his intellectual acumen, but his rant last night smacked of the kind of bile we used to expect from the Klan. We could not help but notice that Stewart, who is ever so sensitive about anti-Semitism, allowed Harris to spew his hate-filled comments without a challenge. Unlike Rick Sanchez, Stewart gets away with this on a regular basis.

This isn’t light humor, poking fun at Catholicism. This is bigotry, pure and simple.

LOUIS C.K.: POPE RAPES BOYS

On last night’s Comedy Central program, “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” comedian Louis C.K. concluded his interview by noting there were certain words that he could not utter on his new show on FX. After offering a few examples, he bleated out the following: “I was going to say that the pope f**** boys….” [The obscenity was bleeped.]

Here is the response by Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

It is a sign of cultural atrophy that so many of today’s comedians cannot exhibit humor save by insulting someone or using vulgarities. Louis C.K. is a case in point. Absent real talent, he does what comes natural to him—he descends to the gutter for laughter. Now he has decided to accuse Pope Benedict XVI of child rape.

I appreciate debate with adults, but have no interest in debating adolescents. Which is why debating this guy would be a waste of time.

Not surprisingly, this gross offense was carried on a network known for two things: (a) trashing Christians and (b) censoring offenses against Muslims.

CATHOLIC BASHERS STUFF HILLARY’S COFFERS

There were at least eight famous contributors to Hillary Clinton’s fundraising event at Roseland Ballroom last night who have a record of Catholic bashing.  Here is the evidence:

  • Ben Affleck played in the anti-Catholic movie, “Dogma,” and admitted that “The film is definitely meant to push buttons”
  • Molly Shannon is best known for her crude portrayal of a Catholic school girl on “Saturday Night Live”
  • Jon Stewart made offensive remarks about the pope on the February 22, 1999 edition of the “Daily Show”
  • Nathan Lane played “a Catholic priest who cruises the altars for quickies” in a 1995 movie called “Jeffrey”
  • Dennis Leary made obscene jokes about Christ and defamed the Catholic Church in his 1997 “Lock-N-Load” show on HBO
  • Cher is soon to release an anti-Catholic song called “Sisters of Mercy”
  • Whoopi Goldberg insulted the pope on the September 26, 1997 edition of “20/20”
  • Harvey Weinstein’s Miramax distributed the anti-Catholic film, “Priest,” and produced the Catholic-bashing movie, “Dogma”

Catholic League president William Donohue voiced the league’s concerns today:

“Hillary Clinton is not responsible for the Catholic-bashing record of her fundraising friends, but she is responsible for running with them.  These are not just some anonymous contributors—they are among her best friends.  Is there anyone who believes that she would run in the same circles with those who mock blacks, Jews or gays?  As far as Catholics are concerned, there is literally no difference between the gang of eight that stuffed her coffers last night and the John Rockers of this world.   But we won’t ask her to return the cash: we’d rather just get the word out about who her real friends are.”
