SEXUALIZING CHILDREN IN THE SCHOOLS

Bill Donohue

June is Pride Month. Regrettably, there are some LGBT activists, and sympathizers, who are using the schools to promote a sick agenda. This needs to end.

We have prepared a report on the many ways in which public schools across the nation are deliberately sexualizing children. We are not talking about “birds and the bees” conversations; rather, we are talking about morally debased instruction. This report was written by Michael McDonald, our director of communications.

The LGBT agenda that seeks to sexually engineer children must end. First, however, people need to know exactly what is being done in the schools.

This report may offend some people. That is not our intent. Our intent is to shine the light on some very disturbing things that are happening to children in the public schools.

L.A. SCHOOLS CONTACTED ON “SISTERS”

Bill Donohue

Today we are sending our report on the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to  53 schools—elementary, high school, colleges and universities—in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In the cover letter, I am asking educators to let their constituents know about our response to the Dodgers giving an award to the “Sisters” at Dodger Stadium on Pride Night, June 16. We are asking Catholics not to attend the game.

This will be an ongoing campaign over the next few weeks.

FANS OF “SISTERS” ARE DISORDERED

Bill Donohue

Most Americans are opposed to bigotry, against any demographic group. Anti-Catholicism, however, which is often called America’s oldest prejudice, is one of the few exceptions to the rule. As the Los Angeles Dodgers have proven, by reinviting the anti-Catholic hate group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the animus against Catholics is alive and well.

As the report we issued on the “Sisters” shows, these homosexual men dressed as nuns are a sick group.

The Catholic Church accepts homosexuals as children of God, but it also says that homosexual inclinations are “objectively disordered” and that homosexual acts are “intrinsically disordered.” The “Sisters” are living proof of just how disordered these men are.

As has been widely reported, the Dodgers reinvited the “Sisters,” after they previously disinvited them from Pride Night, June 16. But they did more than that. They issued an apology for disinviting them in the first place. No apology, or outreach, was extended to Catholics. Thus did the Dodgers put their official stamp of approval on anti-Catholicism.

How many queers hate Catholics? It’s hard to say, but it is clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that many gays and trans persons in the Los Angeles area do. That is why it was reported that many “Los Angeles LGBTQ organizations” support the reinstatement of the “Sisters.” This includes LA Pride and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Local government officials also hate Catholics. Rep. Robert Garcia, a Democrat, said the decision to disinvite the “Sisters” was “shameful” and done to “divide and separate our community.” Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a Democrat, said he strongly supports them. Ashleigh Aitken, a Democrat, the mayor of Anaheim, is another big fan. The ACLU of Southern California, a proverbial hater of Catholics, also sided with the “Sisters.”

No one in the media spilled more vitriol against Catholics than Mike Freeman of USA Today. He defended the “Sisters,” accusing Sen. Marco Rubio and me—not the bigoted drag queens—of promoting hate.

As we previously stated, we are asking Catholics in the Los Angeles area not to attend the June 16 game where the “Sisters” will be honored. Next week we will announce the next round of Catholics whom we will be contacting to boycott this game.

MASS MAILING TO L.A. PARISHES ON “SISTERS”

Bill Donohue

Today we are sending our report on the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to over 300 parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In the cover letter, I am asking pastors to let their parishioners know about our response to the Dodgers giving an award to the “Sisters” at Dodger Stadium on Pride Night, June 16. We are asking Catholics not to attend the game.

We are grateful for the support of Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez and San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone.

The release of the report online yesterday was our first salvo against the Dodgers and Major League Baseball (it could have stopped the event). Today’s mass mailing represents our second response.

This will be an ongoing campaign over the next few weeks.

DODGERS REINVITE BIGOTED “SISTERS”

Bill Donohue

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reinvited the anti-Catholic homosexual drag group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Last week, after the Catholic League enlisted the support of its followers to contact Rob Manfred, Commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB), the “Sisters” were disinvited from attending the “10 Annual LGBTQ+ Night” event; they were to be given a Community Hero Award.

The Dodgers have now officially endorsed anti-Catholic bigotry. Catholics don’t need any lectures from Stan Kasten, the president and CEO of the Dodgers, on the need to be “inclusive.” The man is a phony—he has no problem excluding Catholics from his selective world of inclusivity.

The Dodgers not only reinvited the bigoted drag queens, they apologized to them.

In a statement released to the press, the Dodgers said they had “much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities, honest conversations within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.” On May 22, the “Sisters” met with Kasten and LGBTQ organizations, as well as local government officials.

There was no indication that Catholic leaders, clergy or lay, were invited to participate in these “honest conversations.” Only one side was listened to—the side that sponsors hate speech. The fact that gay and trans leaders agree with the vulgar anti-Catholic rhetoric and behavior of the “Sisters” means they now have no moral leg to stand on when asking for an end to bigotry against them.

Knowing full well how the ruling class in this country can no longer be trusted, I told my staff yesterday that it wouldn’t surprise me if MLB and the Dodgers reversed course. To that end, I personally went through our files on the “Sisters” and prepared a report on them. To read it, click here.

I would love to sit down with Kasten and Manfred after they have read the report and ask them how can they possibly defend such an obscene anti-Catholic group. No decent person could possibly defend such a vicious assault on Catholic sensibilities.

Our next step is to persuade Catholics in the Los Angeles area not to attend Pride Night on June 16. By boycotting this event, we can send a message to the Dodgers, and to Major League Baseball, that anti-Catholic bigotry is unacceptable.

To this end, we will send the report to every parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

We will contact Kasten, but this decision had to have had the blessings of Manfred.

WHITE SUPREMACISTS ARE NOT THE REAL THREAT

Bill Donohue

When Joe Biden was elected president, he promised to unite the country. He has failed. As he proved May 13 at Howard University, he is dividing us along racial lines.

In his commencement address, he told the black audience that white supremacy “is the most dangerous terrorist threat to the homeland.” That is simply not true.

He also said that the battle against racism is “never really over.” To the extent this is true, it is due in no small way to people like him and his administration. They have a vested ideological interest in stoking the fire.

It was only fitting that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he agreed that the “rise in white supremacy” was our greatest domestic terrorist threat. But it is not white supremacists who are killing innocent Americans—it is the drug cartels and their illegal alien stooges who are doing it. And Mayorkas is the principal reason why they are.

As reported in The Economist, nearly 14,000 pounds of fentanyl was seized between October and March, as much as the total for fiscal-year 2022. Since it takes only 2 milligrams of fentanyl to kill an adult, that means that this seizure alone could kill approximately 3.2 billion people.

Are Biden and Mayorkas telling us that white supremacists are a bigger domestic threat than this?

As reported in January by Axios, illegal border crossings reached their highest number since Biden took office. And that was before Title 42 expired. Our southern border is being invaded in record numbers, and not all who seek to come here have good intentions. The problem is we can’t keep up with the number of really dangerous persons entering our country. That is the real domestic threat.

As reported by the New York Times on May 18, we set a new record last year with the number of people—nearly 110,000—who have died of drug overdoses. Fentanyl, of course, is the real killer. “Drug overdoses have contributed to a decrease in life expectancy in the United States and are one of the nation’s leading causes of death. Other drugs in the nation’s supply that can be mixed with fentanyl, such as the cheap and addictive animal tranquilizer xylazine, have heightened the dangers of opioid use.”

There is another serious threat to our domestic security and that is crime.

Under Biden, our cities are witnessing record crime rates, and much of that is a result of Democrat mayors and Democrat District Attorneys. No demographic group has suffered more than black Americans. To cite one example, a new study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association found that in Chicago, 1 in 14 Chicagoans had been shot by their 40th birthday and 50 percent had witnessed a shooting by that age. The rate among blacks was the highest.

As I point out in War on Virtue: How the Ruling Class is Killing the American Dream, it is not blacks who want to defund the police, or abolish our prisons—it is white liberal elites. Most blacks are law-abiding citizens, but they are being preyed upon by a minority within their own ranks. It is not white supremacists whom the average black person needs to fear—it is young black males.

If criminals were held accountable for their behavior, we wouldn’t have such an explosion in violent crime, and for that we can thank people like Biden. Instead of making race-baiting speeches, it would behoove him to show his support for the African American community by speaking out against the soft-on-crime policies that his Party is promoting.

Hard core drugs and hard core criminals are the greatest domestic threat  to the United States, not white supremacists. To insist otherwise is a ruse, and a dangerous one at that.

VICTORY OVER DODGERS ANGERS OUR FOES

Bill Donohue

On May 16, I wrote to Rob Manfred, Commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB), asking him to intervene “in a public manner as you see fit” regarding the decision by the Los Angeles Dodgers to honor a patently obscene anti-Catholic group of homosexual activists, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence; they were to be given an award on June 16 at Dodger Stadium on the “10th Annual LGBTQ+ Night.”

We also listed the email address of Manfred, allowing our huge list of email subscribers to contact him. Within 24 hours, the “Sisters” were disinvited.

On May 18, I wrote to Manfred commending him for his “diligence in confronting anti-Catholicism.”

According to Amanda Bartlett in the May 18 online edition of the San Francisco Chronicle, the decision to disinvite the “Sisters” was “quickly condemned by politicians, celebrities, activists and fans on social media, amassing thousands of responses in a matter of hours.” Too little, too late. I had already amassed “thousands of responses in a matter of hours,” galvanizing our fans to contact Manfred.

Bartlett is a dishonest reporter whose boilerplate “news” article is pure propaganda.

She emailed the Catholic League on May 18 at 12:37 p.m. ET asking for a comment about the controversy; she left her phone number. Three minutes later she was emailed the news release that I wrote. She was also told by Mike McDonald, our director of communications, that “Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League, will give you a call shortly.”

Within an hour, I called her. I left a message for her, asking her to call me. She never called back. Had she talked to me she may not have falsely concluded that we “apparently objected to the Sisters wearing the traditional attire of nuns.”

Bartlett is wrong. If she were right, then how would she explain what I wrote in 1998. “There is a profound difference between poking gentle fun at Catholic traditions and deliberately bashing Catholic sensibilities; it is the difference between ‘Sister Act’ and Howard Stern comedy.” Similarly, in 2002, I wrote, “Whoopi Goldberg made Catholics laugh at her light-hearted antics in ‘Sister Act.’”

It is not the mere comedic portrayal of nuns in habit that is offensive—it is the vulgar antics of men in drag that is objectionable. But to reporters who find simulated sodomy to be funny—exploiting nuns while doing so—then of course they rally to the “Sisters.”

Bartlett also says that “In a statement, which is not worthy repeating in full, Donohue compared the Sisters dressing as nuns to wearing blackface.”

I think it is worth repeating in full. “In my letter [to Manfred], I said that if a group of white boys in black face—a modern day Al Jolson ensemble—were to be honored by an MLB team, there is little doubt that the event would be cancelled and sanctions would be forthcoming.”

For their part, the “Sisters” put out a statement saying, “We are a charity organization and we are human rights activists.” It would be more accurate to say they are masters of hate speech disguised as a charity.

Make no mistake, the “Sisters” have a history of trashing Jesus and mocking Our Blessed Mother. They routinely mock the Eucharist and adopt the most obscene names to describe themselves. They are a low-class group of homosexual and transgender anti-Catholic bigots.

It is worth noting that the ACLU of Southern California is so upset with the “Sisters” being ousted that they are not going to the Pride event at Dodger Stadium. We’re delighted.

Having written a Ph.D. dissertation, as well as two books and a monograph on the ACLU, I know how deeply anti-Catholic the organization is. Indeed, it has always been that way, having been founded by Roger Baldwin, an atheist, in 1920 (I interviewed him in 1978). I also know how dishonest the Southern California chapter is.

Many years ago I debated Ramona Ripston, the executive director of the Southern California chapter of the ACLU. I knew she would be dishonest, so I brought along a copy of the Union’s Policy Guide. When she disputed something I said about the ACLU, I stopped the debate at the University of California, Irvine, and asked a student to come on to the stage and read to the audience what the ACLU’s policy was. He did. I was vindicated. She lost.

I am personally happy that people like Bartlett, the ACLU and gay and trans activists are cheering the “Sisters.” We like it when we induce bigots to come out of the closet.

DODGERS PULL ANTI-CATHOLIC GROUP

Bill Donohue

We have just learned that the Los Angeles Dodgers have pulled its invitation to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence as an honoree in this year’s “LGBTQ+ Night” event.

Yesterday, I wrote to Rob Manfred, the Commissioner of Major League Baseball, about this outrageous insult to Catholics, and we listed his email address. Our huge list of email subscribers came through, and we are grateful for their input. We also want to thank Commissioner Manfred, and the Dodgers, for doing the right thing.

Justice was done in the end. There is no room for anti-Catholic bigotry in any gay or trans celebratory event.

XAVIER UNIV. FAILS TO CONDEMN OBSCENE STUNT

Bill Donohue

There were many news stories last week about bigoted comments made by West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins, but virtually everyone treated the story as if there were only one guilty party. In point of fact, both Huggins and Xavier University bear responsibility for what happened.

When Huggins was interviewed by Bill Cunningham on Bill’s radio show, the two discussed what happened many years ago when Huggins was the coach of the University of Cincinnati’s basketball team. During the game between Huggins’ team and the school’s cross-town rival, Xavier University, fans from Xavier threw inflatable penis’ on the court. Huggins described the incident, calling the students “fags” and “Catholic f**kers.”

Immediately, Huggins came under fire for his anti-gay and anti-Catholic remarks. He should have. He issued a strong apology, had his salary cut by $1 million, received a three-game suspension, and was required to undergo “sensitivity training”; he also made a personal donation to Xavier.

The president of Xavier, Colleen Hanycz, called Huggins’ comments “repulsive and offensive.” They were. But so were the antics of the students, yet she said not a word about them. Importantly, she never denied what happened.

Why the double standard? Why is a Jesuit university silent when its  students throw dildos on a basketball court? Perhaps if students from a rival school today were to throw inflatable vaginas on the court of Xavier’s women’s basketball team, the response might be different.

The duplicity is not just a problem for Xavier. The media had a field day going after Huggins. Not surprisingly, they were much more upset with his anti-gay quip than his anti-Catholic one.

It makes us wonder: Had Huggins only made an anti-Catholic remark, would there have been any news stories on it? Not likely. After all, Bill Maher continues to make anti-Catholic remarks on his weekly HBO-TV show and, aside from us, no one objects. The media are obviously not offended.

DODGERS REWARD ANTI-CATHOLIC HATE SPEECH

Bill Donohue

The Los Angeles Dodgers have besmirched their legacy of combating bigotry by partnering with LA Pride in awarding this year’s Community Hero Award to an obscene anti-Catholic group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The award, which will be presented by Blue Shield of California on June 16, celebrates the “10th Annual LGBTQ+ Night” at Dodger Stadium.

In 1947, the Brooklyn Dodgers made history by naming Jackie Robinson to its roster. He was the first black man to play Major League Baseball (MLB). Now it is in the business of promoting bigotry, not fighting it. By rewarding anti-Catholicism, the Dodgers have broken bread with the most despicable elements in American society today.

The Catholic League has been the leading critic of this bigoted organization for many decades. Don’t believe the lie that the “Sisters” mean no harm. And don’t believe the lie, floated by Erik Braverman, a communications spokesman for the Dodgers, that this event is all about “diversity and inclusion.” On the contrary, it’s about rewarding hate speech.

These homosexual bigots are known for simulating sodomy while dressed as nuns. They like to feature a “Condom Savior Mass,” one that describes how the “Latex Host is the flesh for the life of the world.”  The “Sisters” go by names such as “Sister Homo Fellatio” and “Sister Joyous Reserectum.” Just last month, they held an event mocking Our Blessed Mother and Jesus on Easter Sunday.

I am writing to Rob Manfred, commissioner of MLB, about this unprovoked assault on Catholics. In his letter to Manfred, Senator Marco Rubio asked, “why are you allowing an MLB team to honor a group that mocks Christians through diabolical parodies of our faith.” In my letter, I said that if a group of white boys in black face—a modern day Al Jolson ensemble—were to be honored by an MLB team, there is little doubt that the event would be cancelled and sanctions would be forthcoming.

Two years ago, Manfred was so angered about alleged voter irregularities in Georgia that he moved the All Star Game to Denver. Let’s see how he reacts when Catholics are targeted.
