HATING THE WORKING CLASS IS CHIC

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on why the working class is hated by liberals:

There is a big difference between the Democrats of old, who were liberal but not leftists, and Democrats today, many of whom are associated with left-wing politics. Not too long ago, the working class identified with the Democrats, but the hostility that many Democrats have shown for them has driven them toward the Republicans.

Today, the Democrats are more the party of plutocrats, not the working class. The latest iteration is the support that Democrats are showing for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s suspension of civil liberties for truckers who object to his authoritarian Covid measures.

Trudeau’s response to truckers tying up traffic was to declare martial law. He assumed police powers that literally gave him dictatorial control, allowing him to censor the media and freeze the bank accounts of those who opposed him. Some non-violent Canadians were beaten by the police and protesters had their savings raided by the state.

In a recent Trafalgar Group poll, 55% of Americans disapproved of Trudeau’s handling of the trucker protest. Among Republicans, the figure jumped to 87%; independents registered over 74% disapproval. But among Democrats, only 17% disapproved (two out of three approved).

How to explain this disparity?

The issue has nothing to do with violence—the truckers were non-violent almost to the person. Clearly the most violent protesters over the past few years have been those who supported Black Lives Matter: dozens of innocent Americans were killed, police stations were set on fire, churches were vandalized and looters fleeced department stores. Yet in a Pew survey published in September, it was disclosed that 85% of Democrats said they support Black Lives Matter (78% of Republicans opposed them).

Similarly, Trudeau’s authoritarian crackdown on the truckers was not motivated by a desire to stop the violence—there was almost none. Besides, he never objected to the violent Black Lives Matter protesters. In fact, this “privileged” white boy, who is worth $10 million—he inherited it all—took a knee last year in support of Black Lives Matter. Conveniently, he was not wearing blackface at the time.

It’s not hard to figure out what’s going on. Trudeau and most Democrats are not liberals anymore—they’ve joined the ranks of the left. As such, they are marked by a strong tyrannical streak and a searing contempt for the working class (Marxists have long given up on them).

For example, support for the Covid lockdowns, and other draconian measures, comes heavily from the blue states, places where liberal Democrats reign. It is not those who live in the suburbs and in the rural areas who love masks—it’s liberal city dwellers—the same ones who like Black Lives Matter. It’s not the working class which supports the racism that is inherent in critical race theory, or the insanity that marks transgenderism. No, it’s the urbane sages who swallowed whole everything they were taught by their left-wing professors.

Richard Nixon was the first Republican president to reach out to the working class. Then the Reagan Democrats emerged as a force for Republicans in the 1980s. More recently, Trump did more than any Republican to welcome the working class.

Ever since the Hardhat Riot of 1970—when New York City construction workers broke the heads of spoiled anti-American white kids—the working class has been hated by liberal Democrats. Obama disparaged those Americans who “cling to their guns or religion,” and Hillary spoke with derision about the “basket of deplorables.”

In fact, Hillary bragged after her 2016 loss to Trump that a majority of her voters came from “dynamic” areas that represent “two-thirds of America’s gross domestic product.” In other words, she set anchor with the Silicon Valley elites, not the lunch-bucket crowd.

The working class is comprised of patriotic men and women who value common sense more than books, and who believe in God more than algorithms. By contrast, the elites who govern the Democratic Party score  low on measures of patriotism, and most have never served a day in the armed forces. They don’t worry about crime the way the working class does—they live in gated communities with their own security. To top things off, they have no need for God—they’re smarter than Him.

The working class knows all of this, which explains why they loathe the Democrats. They resent their condescending attitude, and their hypocritical double standards. Which is why they’re done with them.

TO WHOM DO CHILDREN BELONG?

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on parental authority versus state authority:

Does the child belong to parents or the state? This issue is nothing new—Plato argued that the community in which children are raised is the proper locus of authority, not the parents. He envisioned a society where parents were denied their right to raise their own children: they would be collectively raised. He explicitly said in The Republic that the good society was one where “no parent is to know his own child, nor any child his parent.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom is no Plato, but he is also not a believer in parental rights. He objects to Florida and Texas officials who are seeking to stop the state from promoting “gender-transitioning procedures” for children behind the back of parents. “This is nothing short of a state-sponsored intimidation of LGBTQ children,” he said.

In other words, if parents object to child abuse encouraged by state operatives—that is what puberty blockers and the prospect of genital mutilation are—then they are the problem, not the government.

In many parts of the country, children are being prompted by school officials to question their sexual orientation. Some are then encouraged to  transition to the opposite sex, without the consent of their parents. How many? No one knows for sure, but we do know that some public officials, school administrators, school board members and teachers’ unions believe they know better than a child’s parents what’s good for their kids. They are modern-day tyrants who respect no boundaries.

In a sane society they would be put away. Instead, they are awarded tenure.

In the 1920s, the Ku Klux Klan supported an anti-Catholic law in Oregon that required all children to attend a public school (thus closing down Catholic schools). The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary sued, and in 1925 the U.S. Supreme Court sided with them. “The child is not the mere creature of the state; those who nurture him and direct his destiny have the right, coupled with the high duty, to recognize and prepare him for additional obligations (italics in the original).”

Today’s Klan is non-violent and well-educated, but they are just as dangerous as the men in white robes. Newsom and the educational establishment are wrecking the lives of young people, promoting the pernicious idea that it is normal to rebel against one’s own nature. It manifestly is not.

Young people are being exploited at a record rate—girls more than boys—by tolerating, if not actively promoting, the notion that switching one’s sex is very much like switching one’s diet. What’s wrong with being a boy today and a girl tomorrow? Isn’t that like being carnivorous today and a vegetarian tomorrow?

Modern society is made up of the individual, the intermediate associations that constitute social authority—the family, school, church, voluntary organizations—and the state. Beginning with the French Revolution, the road to totalitarianism has been greased when the state crushes the intermediate associations; when civil society collapses, only the individual and the state remain. As the 20th century proved in Russia, Germany and China, that means the end of liberty. The only bulwark to state power is the social authority grounded in civil society.

Children are not mere creatures of the state. They are the natural outcome of a union between a man and a woman, ideally forged in the institution of marriage, and it is the prerogative of parents—not the state—to decide what is best for them.

Since Newsom is now telling the governors in other states how to conduct their business, it’s time for people all over the nation to tell him how to conduct his business.

NON-VIOLENT RIOTERS PUNISHED MORE THAN VIOLENT ONES

Catholic League president Bill Donohue calls attention to the unjust way law enforcement is treating rioters:

On February 15, 2022 Edward McAlanis was sentenced to six months probation, $500 in restitution and 60 hours of community service. He was previously fired from his high salary job in financial services; he is now a pizza delivery driver. What did he do to merit these punishments? On January 6 last year, he joined a protest outside the U.S. Capitol, and entered the building without authorization. He posed for a picture in front of a statue of Abraham Lincoln. That was it.

By contrast, Antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters killed innocent persons, set buildings on fire, assaulted the police, looted department stores and participated in illegal street demonstrations. Practically nothing has been done to any of them. Moreover, the attacks these thugs made on Catholics have largely been ignored by the media.

Antifa sports a revolutionary ideology, one that is diametrically opposed to Catholicism; to say it hates Catholicism is an understatement. One of the leaders of BLM, Shaun King, stated in 2020 that all images depicting Jesus as a “white European” should be torn down because they are a form of “white supremacy.” He added that white people use Christianity as a “tool of oppression.”

During the many riots in 2020 and 2021, Antifa and BLM, or those directly inspired by them, heeded King’s statement by attacking Catholic institutions and iconic Catholic figures. Here is a sample of their work:

  • May 28, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters broke into the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis and poured flammable liquid under the pews, lighting a fire that did significant damage.
  • May 29, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters threw rocks shattering the rectory windows of the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville.
  • May 29, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters damaged the exterior of St. Jude Chapel in Dallas and threw rocks shattering its windows.
  • May 30, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters laced the exterior of Our Lady of Mt. Lebanon-St. Peter Cathedral in Los Angeles with the following graffiti: “prosecute killer cops,” “ACAB” [All Cops Are Bastards], “Kill all cops,” and “Make America pay for its crimes against Black lives.”
  • May 30, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters spray-painted St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City with various counter-cultural slogans.
  • May 31, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters threw rocks at the Daughters of St. Paul Book Store in Chicago causing severe damages.
  • June 1, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters caused serious damage to The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver following several nights of rioting
  • June 10, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters pulled down a statue of Columbus in Richmond, VA.
  • June 10, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters pulled down a statue of Columbus in St. Paul, MN.
  • June 10, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters tore down a statue of Ponce de Leon and spray-painted a statue of Columbus in Miami.
  • June 19, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters tore down a statue of St. Serra in San Francisco.
  • June 20, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters tore down a statue of St. Serra in Los Angeles.
  • June 22, 2020—Keveon Gomera, who was inspired by Antifa and BLM, defaced gravestones of Dominican priests by painting swastikas and anti-Catholic language on them at Providence College.
  • July 4, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters tore down and set fire to a statue of St. Serra in Sacramento.
  • July 4, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters pulled down a statue of Columbus in Baltimore.
  • July 6, 2020—An Antifa and BLM-inspired individual vandalized a crucifix outside of St. Bernadette Parish in Rockford, IL.
  • July 11, 2020—Steven Anthony Shields, who was inspired by Antifa and BLM, drove a car into Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, FL while parishioners gathered inside for Mass. He proceeded to pour gasoline in foyer and set the building on fire. When he was arrested, he told police that what he did was “awesome” and that he was on a “mission.”
  • August 1, 2020—Antifa protestors burned copies of the Bible and American flags in Portland.
  • August 25, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters spray-painted anti-religious graffiti on St. James Church in Kenosha, WI.
  • September 26, 2020—Antifa and BLM activists laced Peter’s Chaldean Catholic Cathedral and Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in El Cajon, CA with swastikas.
  • October 12, 2020—Antifa and BLM activists spray-painted and toppled a statue of St. Serra at St. Raphael, San Rafael, CA.
  • November 3, 2020—Antifa and BLM rioters shattered the windows of St. Andre Bessettee in Portland.
  • January 19, 2021—Antifa and BLM activists attempted to burn down the Rosary Cathedral in Toledo, OH.
  • October 13, 2021—An Antifa and BLM-inspired activist spray-painted satanic and BLM messages on the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver.

The disparate treatment afforded those who participated in the non-violent January 6th riot, and those who participated in the violent Antifa and BLM riots, is a national disgrace. This has everything to do with politics, not justice.

CORPORATE ELITES ARE PLAYING BLACKS

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on how large corporations are playing blacks:

We chose to review the diversity statements and programs of ten large-scale corporations. We then compared them to the racial profile of their top executives. The results are an eye-opener.

The worst offender, meaning the corporation with the biggest hypocrites, is Goldman Sachs.

Goldman Sachs

In June 2020, Goldman Sachs announced that it “has a message right now to the companies they invest in: drive diversity throughout the organization, or we may just drive away from your stock.”

Good thing that principle doesn’t apply to themselves. If it did, it would mean sudden death.

There are 9 Executive Officers at Goldman Sachs. All are white. They have no blacks, Hispanics or Asians in these top positions.

Here are the other corporate phonies, in alphabetical order.

American Express

American Express asks workers to rank themselves on a hierarchy of “privilege.” If they say things like “We are all human beings,” they will be in violation of the company’s race-based regulations; it is seen as a “microaggression.”

Lucky for the whites on the Executive Team that only a few of their colleagues can charge them with “microagressions.”

There are 30 members on the Executive Team: 25 are white, 2 are black, 2 are Hispanic and 1 is Asian.

Apple

In June 2020, Apple CEO Tim Cook said he was launching a Racial Equity Justice Initiative that will “challenge the systemic barriers to opportunity and dignity that exist for communities of color, and particularly for the black community.”

Too bad Apple didn’t begin by applying its diversity commitment to themselves.

Apple’s leadership consists of 14 persons: there are 12 whites and 2 Asians. There no blacks or Hispanics.

Bank of America

Bank of America’s racial-equity program for employees informs them that white toddlers “develop racial biases by ages three to five,” and therefore everyone “should be actively taught to recognize and reject the ‘smog’ of white privilege.”

There appears to be a lot of “smog” at Bank of America.

Of the 24 top executives, 19 are white, 2 are black, 1 is Hispanic and 2 are Asian.

Cigna

In July 2020, Cigna president and CEO David Cordani boasted that he was launching a new “Building Equity and Equality Program” to support “diversity, inclusion, equality and equity for communities of color.”

Looks like Cigna doesn’t regard Hispanics and Asians to be “people of color.”

The Executives and Management Team has 11 members, 8 are white and 3 are black. There are no Hispanics or Asians on the top team.

Citigroup Inc.

On its website, Citigroup has a section on racial equity wherein it pledges to “Work with marketing, communications and legal partners to establish guidelines that increase representation of people of color on Citi accounts and within leadership teams.”

Looks like the pledge was vacuous.

There are 17 members on its Executive Management Team: 13 are white, 1 is black, 1 is Hispanic and 2 are Asian.

Facebook

In July 2021, Facebook announced that by 2024, its goal was to hire more minorities and to “increase the number of US-based leaders (Director-level employees and above) who are people of color by 30%.”

If that is the case, it had better get on its affirmative-action bandwagon right away—it has a long way to go.

There is a total of 23 top executives at Facebook. Of that number, 21 are white, 1 is black and 1 is Asian. There are no Hispanics.

JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Jamie Dimon, the chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, says, “Everything has to start at home, where we’re working to drive our diverse and inclusive culture into every corner of our firm.

Looks like they missed most of the corners.

On the Operating Committee of JPMorgan Chase, there are 18 persons, 16 of whom are white. They have no blacks, 1 Hispanic and 1 Asian.

Morgan Stanley

James Gorman, chairman and CEO of Morgan Stanley has doled out millions of dollars to black organizations. He has also encouraged workers to make donations, including to Black Lives Matter. He brags about adding a fifth value to the company’s core values: “Committing to Diversity and Inclusion.”

It seems that Gorman’s latest core value is more smoke than substance.

There are 20 members on the Operating Committee of Morgan Stanley. Of that number, 16 are white, 2 are black and 2 are Asian. There are no Hispanics.

Walmart

Walmart teaches its employees that the U.S. is a “white supremacy system,” and that white people “promote white supremacy thinking” that is “damaging to both people of color and to white people.”

It appears that the leadership of Walmart is dominated by white supremacists.

Of the 9 top executives, 8 are white and 1 is black. There are no Hispanics or Asians.

All ten of the chairmen and CEO’s of these major corporations are white, and all are men. Moreover, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase all asked shareholders to reject their racial-equity audits; the CEO of the latter company did so literally hours after decrying inequality.

These elites are playing us, especially blacks. The insincerity of the  ruling class is stunning. According to their own standards, most of these corporate titans are white racists. That being the case, they should resign immediately.

COMPARING RELIGIOUS STATES TO SECULAR STATES

Catholic League president Bill Donohue discusses how religious states differ from secular states:

Pew Research Center collects data on the 50 states that measures how religious they are. We looked at the 12 most religious states and compared them to the 12 least religious states on several variables. While they did not differ much on some variables, on others they clearly did.

The 12 most religious states, as determined by the percent of adults who identify as highly religious, are, from top to bottom: Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, South Carolina, West Virginia, Georgia, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas and Utah.

The 12 least religious states are, from top to bottom: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Washington, Alaska, New York, Hawaii, Colorado and Oregon.

For all 24 states, we researched whether they had a religious liberty statute, i.e., one that was similar to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) on the federal level (we did not count states where the courts have ordered some sort of RFRA-like legislation).

We then compared these states on five issues: drug overdose death rate per 100,000; suicide mortality rate per 100,000; the percentage of pregnancies aborted; the level of restrictive abortion laws; and the existence of a school-choice initiative that includes private schools.

Religious Liberty Laws:

8 of 12 of the most religious states have a religious-liberty law.

1 of 12 of the least religious states has a religious-liberty law.

Drug Overdose Death Rate

The difference between the two state groupings was negligible.

Suicide Mortality Rate

The difference between the two state groupings was negligible.

Abortion Rate

The average percentage of pregnancies aborted per 100,000 in the most religious states was 11.23 percent.

The average percentage of pregnancies aborted per 100,000 in the least religious states was 17.66 percent.

Restrictive Abortion Laws

12 of 12 of the most religious states have restrictive abortion laws.

1 of 12 of the least religious states has a restrictive abortion law.

School Choice

11 of 12 of the most religious states has some sort of program that allows for private school choice.

3 of 12 of the least religious states has some sort of program that allows for private school choice.

What does this tell us?

There is little that lawmakers can do to affect people from overdosing on drugs or killing themselves. Similarly, whether a state is religious or not does not seem to matter. (However, we know from many studies that the more religious a person is, the less likely he is to engage in drug use or commit suicide.)

By contrast, lawmakers play a key role in affecting abortion rates. The more restrictive the laws are, the less the abortion rate.

When it comes to school-choice programs that include private schools, lawmakers tend to follow the culture: the most religious states are the ones that enjoy the widest array of school-choice programs.

While these conclusions do not settle the issue altogether, it does indicate that those who support traditional moral values are better off living in the most religious states. It also suggests that it is not in our nation’s interest to welcome the increasing secularization of society. Indeed, we should resist it.

BULLYING CHRISTIAN STUDENTS GOES UNNOTICED

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the blinders that many in the media have seeing bigotry directed at Christian students:

If a gay or transgender person is bullied by students, the media are sure to highlight it. They should. But when Christians are victimized, the story gets little or no coverage. Some of this is deliberate, and some of it is not. While bias explains the former, cluelessness explains the latter. Occasionally, the media’s blinders even extend to deadly incidents.

On February 11, on the Oxygen channel, the “Killing Siblings” series featured a episode on the Freeman brothers, Bryan and David. In 1995, they committed matricide and fratricide, respectively; a cousin, Nelson Birdwell, contributed to the killing of the brothers’ father, Dennis. None of them claim responsibility for killing Erik, the 11-year-old brother of Bryan and David.

Bryan committed the first murder, killing his mother Brenda. He stabbed her four times in the torso with a kitchen knife, and once in her lung; for good measure, she was smashed with a barbell. Then David finished his father: he was beaten to death with a baseball bat. Assisting him was his cousin, who bludgeoned Dennis with the barbell. Young Erik was struck six times with a pickaxe, leaving him for dead. There was blood splattered all over the house.

Why did they do this? Killing one’s own mother and father is extremely rare. News reports say it is because the boys became neo-Nazis. This is true, but it is incomplete.

Most reports say that the brothers, Bryan and David, had been raised in a strict religious home and that they rebelled against their parents. After they rebelled, they took to drugs and alcohol, and it was in a rehabilitation center where they met Nazi skinheads.

The headline of the February 14 article posted by Oxygen.com reads, “2 Brothers Raised As Devout Christians Become Neo-Nazis, Then Kill Their Family.” Similarly, a post on the Oxygen website says, “Troubled, teen brothers rebel against their strict religious upbringing and become skinheads.”

As to be expected, the Wikipedia entry says, “They were a very religious family and they [the father and mother] brought up their sons as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Bryan and David resented their family lifestyle and turned to neo-Nazism.”

As it turns out, these accounts are seriously misleading. The evidence shows that the boys did not rebel against their parents until after they were bullied at school.

In the Oxygen article, it says, “Both parents had met in the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and brought their sons up in their faith, but the two older boys had begun rejecting it in junior high when they were bullied for their differences (my italics).” Then they turned to substance abuse and were sent to the rehab facility.

In the TV episode, Jaccii Farris, a journalist and filmmaker, was quoted as saying the following: “The kids at school would pick on them because they had to wear a suit and tie or because they couldn’t hang out with them. The taunts grew as they got older.”

In 1995, when the media covered this story, the only mention of bullying was what the boys did to others; nothing was said about the bullying that they experienced first. The reader and the viewer were left—and still are—with the impression that religion is the real problem, not the role played by bigoted students who stigmatized them, making them outcasts.

Why does this matter? If school officials had been attentive to the bullying of the Freeman brothers, perhaps they would have intervened, and perhaps future events might have been different. We will never know.

However, we do know that in the “sensitivity” classes that educators participate in, little is said about the diversity that Christian students represent. [Whether Jehovah’s Witnesses are legitimately identified as Christian is a separate matter—they say they are.]

It’s a sure bet that had it been the apparel of Muslim students that was the subject of derision, teachers and administrators would have sanctioned the bullies.

A 2019 Pew survey found that Catholic and evangelical students were much more likely to experience bullying in school than was true for mainline Protestant students or the religiously unaffiliated. This did not generate a lot of media coverage, but had it been the reverse, the outcome would have been different.

No student deserves to be bullied, and this is true across demographic categories. Of course, virtually every educator and reporter would agree with this observation. But for this to be more than an empty platitude, they need to take off their blinders and pay as much attention to Christians who are bullied as they do others.

In short, their cluelessness is a function of their politics.

THE PRAYER SCARE AND BEYOND

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on critical reactions to prayer and religious conversations:

A half century ago, those who were not religious tended not to be anti-religious, so they had no impact on the faithful. That’s changed. With almost three in ten Americans not adhering to any religion, there has been an increase in secular militancy, the likes of which we have never seen before in this country.

It’s not just the increase in the “nones” that is troubling (those who answer “none” when asked what their religious affiliation is), it’s the changing cultural milieu that is a problem. We can thank the ruling class –the elites who command our most important institutions—for this development. Their hostility to religion is so strong that they even object to people praying, or talking about religion, in public.

A high school student from Plainwell, Michigan was suspended for three days this year when he was caught talking to another student about religion on school property. The conversation was private and there was no attempt at proselytizing: the student who was engaged in dialogue shared the convictions of the student who opened the conversation.

The suspended student says that he was told by a teacher that he must stop talking about his Christian religion with other students for fear of hurting their feelings. Those who might overhear their commentary, he was informed, might be offended or feel unsafe. Furthermore, he was told that it was his responsibility to contact school officials if he heard about hurtful comments made by other students. His case is now in federal court.

A year ago, an off-duty police officer in Louisville, Kentucky was suspended for four months for praying outside an abortion clinic. He stopped to pray with his father, who was part of a pro-life group. He was wearing his police uniform at the time but tried to cover it up with his coat. His lawyer said the cop did not engage in political activity and prayed quietly outside the facility. He recently won a settlement from Louisville of $75,000.

In a suburb of Seattle, a high school football coach was fired for engaging in voluntary silent prayer with his players after games. The school told him he should have prayed in a school-hall closet or the press box—that way he would not be seen by other students—and not on the 50-yard-line. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear his case.

Ironically, the first person I ever met who exhibited a prayer scare was the founder of the ACLU, Roger Baldwin. I interviewed him in his home in New York City in 1978 (it was part of my New York University Ph.D. dissertation). Here is the exchange (it can be found in my first book, The Politics of the American Civil Liberties Union):

“Donohue: The ACLU has even gone so far as to deny the right of people to voluntarily take the time during the day, as a schoolchild, to say a prayer.

Baldwin: Not on school time.

Donohue: Well, whose rights are being infringed upon if there is a silent prayer voluntarily said by a student?

Baldwin: If they don’t say anything? You mean if they don’t—-

Donohue: Right. Are you afraid they are going to proselytize the rest of the class?

Baldwin: Well, they tried to get around it. They’ve tried to get around it even further than you by calling it meditation.

Donohue: What’s wrong with that?

Baldwin: You don’t say anything about God or religion or anything. I suppose you can get by with that but it’s a subterfuge, because the implication is that you’re meditating about the hereafter or God or something.

Donohue: Well, what’s wrong with that? Doesn’t a person have the right to do that? Or to meditate about popcorn for that matter?

Baldwin: I suppose that—it sounds very silly to me because it looks like an obvious evasion of the constitutional provision.”

In the three current aforementioned cases, and the Baldwin one, there is something going on here that transcends any alleged constitutional problem.

It’s ironic: These people accuse religious Americans, especially those who talk about religion in public, or pray in public, as being irrational, yet their prayer scare makes no rational sense. What are they really afraid of?

The cancel culture is more than just about speech—it’s about religious thoughts. These mind-control freaks are beyond weird. Indeed, they are a danger to a free society.

FERNANDO CABRERA IS NO BIGOT

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a candidate for public office in New York City:

Fernando Cabrera is not a household name, even in most parts of New York City. But he has a distinguished career, and word has it that he may land a job in the administration of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Unfortunately, the fact that he is a practicing Christian is leading extremists in the gay community to oppose him.

The Catholic League is not endorsing or opposing Cabrera. Moreover, we do not know him. But from what we have learned, attempts to portray him a bigot are scurrilous. Indeed, it is his critics who are showing their bigoted stripes.

Cabrera is well known in the Bronx for his years of service. In the 1980s, after working in Richmond, Virginia as the Director of New Life for Youth, a faith-based rehabilitation center for young men beset with alcohol and drug problems, he left to found New Life Bronx in 1988. He was later elected to a seat on the New York City Council, representing the Bronx as a Democrat.

Cabrera, who holds a Ph.D. in Counseling, has spent his entire professional life in service to troubled youth. He also started the first Mental Health Counseling graduate program in New York State. More recently, he raised money to help the hurricane victims in Honduras.

Given his stellar credentials, it is shameful that Adams did not appoint him to head the Office of Community Mental Health. He was considered, but gay activists lobbied against him. News stories suggest that he may be appointed to some other position in the Adams administration.

Much of the opposition against Cabrera stems from a 2014 YouTube video wherein he criticized abortion and gay marriage. There is absolutely nothing in his remarks that was in any way derogatory or insulting. He simply made the case that in Uganda, Christians have made much progress combating HIV, noting their opposition to gay marriage.

For this, Cabrera has been unjustly tagged as an “anti-gay pastor.” Yet there is no evidence to support this invidious accusation. Millions of decent Christians believe that marriage should be limited to a union between one man and one woman. To claim that they are bigots because of their religious beliefs is the real bigotry.

Some gay activists have labeled Cabrera “a vile homophobic bigot.” Others have gone so far as to compare him to David Duke, the neo-Nazi. This is a vicious smear.

If Eric Adams allows these anti-Christian bigots to win, he will be sending a message to Catholics and Protestants throughout the nation, not just the city: “No Christians Need Apply.”

NFL TO HOST “N” WORD DEVOTEES

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the Super Bowl halftime show:

The National Football League (NFL), under the tutelage of Commissioner Roger Goodell, is ever so proud of its record combating racism. Two years ago, Goodell said, “We at the National Football League condemn racism and the systematic oppression of black people.”

To that end, he approved such things this season as the singing of the Black national anthem at games, end zone inscriptions that read “End Racism,” and a host of anti-racist messages printed on the players’ apparel.

What about the behavior of the players? After all, it is widely known that the “N” word is commonly used by black football players. About ten years ago this became a burning issue, so in 2014 the NFL told game officials to penalize players who used the word on the field.

At that time Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, now with Tampa Bay, objected, saying, “It’s an atrocious idea. It’s in the locker room and on the field at all times. I hear it almost every series out there on the field.” Since that time the NFL has cracked down even more.

Section 3 of the current NFL Rulebook is titled, “Unsportsmanlike Conduct.” The second listing in Article 1 prohibits “Using abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures to opponents, teammates, officials, or representatives of the League.”

But is this all a PR stunt? It sure looks this way.

For example, why is the NFL showcasing foul-mouthed singers—who specialize in using the “N” word—during its halftime festivities this Sunday?

Five musical celebrities will be featured on Super Bowl Sunday. Two of them, Mary J. Blige and Eminem, are not known to drop the “N” word. But three of them are: Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg. In addition, their promiscuous use of vulgarities, which qualify as “abusive” or “insulting” language, is well known. Here is a sample.

One of Dr. Dre’s songs is called, “A Nigga Witta Gun.” One of the lyrics says, “You’re a motherf****** liar, nigga.” Another says, “Listen up, nigga, you know Lucifer?”

He has a song, “Bitch Niggaz,” which goes like this: “Bitch niggas, Bitch niggas, Bitch-ass niggas.” There is also, “I meet more bitch niggas than hoes, look here.” Another favorite line is, “These niggas don’t know what the f*** is going on.” He cites the “N” word 39 times.

“The Day The Niggaz Took Over” features, “I got my finger on the trigger, some niggas wonder why, But living in the city, it’s do or die.” Then there is this gem: “How many niggas are ready to loot?”

Kendrick Lamar has a song titled, “F*** Your Ethnicity,” which, not surprisingly, includes the line, “F*** your ethnicity, nigga.” He says it again, just in case the listeners missed it the first time.

In his song, “The Art of Peer Pressure,” Lamar sings about “Me and my niggas four deep in a white Toyota,” noting that “Hood niggas with bad intentions” can be a problem. He drops the “N” word 25 times.

There are 21 uses of the “N” word in “m.A.A.d City.” Here’s a classic: “Seen a light-skinned nigga with his brains blown out.”

Snoop Dogg has a lovely song called, “My F**kin House,” wherein he sings, “This is my mother’s f**kin’ house nigga.”

Why is the NFL Commissioner promoting those who love the “N” word during the Super Bowl halftime show? Wasn’t he supposed to be discouraging the use of it? What message does he think will stick with young viewers? The one that says the NFL prohibits the “N” word? Or the one which says the NFL sanctions its usage?

Goodell can’t have it both ways. Either the “N” word and the “F” word are verboten, or they are welcome. If he is making an exception for entertainers, then he can’t be taken seriously. Is it the big bucks garnered from halftime commercials that override your interest in civility, Mr. Goodell? If so, what does that make you?

BIDEN IS NOT RUNNING THE WHITE HOUSE

Catholic League president Bill Donohue shows why President Biden is not in charge:

If ever we needed definitive proof that Joe Biden is not running the White House, it was laid bare when he came to the defense of sexual engineers in the schools.

On February 8, he tweeted, “I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community—especially kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill—to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are.”

The “hateful bill” is a Florida bill that says schools “may not encourage discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.”

In other words, Biden wants little kids to learn from adults that they can change their sex: boys should learn that they can become girls, and vice versa. Eventually, this will mean using puberty blockers and undergoing genital mutilation, something which our “devout Catholic” president finds to be perfectly acceptable. It will also mean that biological boys can use the same restrooms as the girls. He is okay with that, too.

So if he is happy with this madness, isn’t this proof that he is in charge? No. He would never write about LGBTQI+ people. Someone else did that.

To be specific, does anyone really believe that Biden knows what the “I” stands for, or what the “+” means?

That seals it—he is being exploited by left-wing zealots in the White House, and everyone, including his wife, knows it. Everyone but Joe, that is.
