The Catholic League has published a booklet on the subject of religious expression at Christmastime. Written by the league’s former director of research, Robert Lockwood, and the league’s legal advisory committee chairman, Professor Gerard Bradley of the University of Notre Dame Law School, the booklet details a list of guidelines that are most appropriate for this time of year. We are sending a copy to every bishop in the nation.

Members who would like a copy are asked to send $3 to cover postage and handling to Catholic League, 450 7th Avenue, New York, New York 10123.

The booklet contains the following: a narrative overview of the issue; guidelines for private groups or individuals erecting nativity scenes on public property; and guidelines concerning religious symbols in public schools.

This is a major issue for the Catholic League. That is why we published an op-ed page ad on this subject in the New York Times on November 27. It is reprinted on p. 13 of this issue of Catalyst.
