As you gather for your annual celebration…it is my pleasure to extend to you my sincere congratulations, best wishes and promise of prayers.
Although I would be delighted to join you for this special occasion, regretfully the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Priesthood Ordination of Bishop Timothy Lyne, at Holy Name Cathedral at this same time will deny me the pleasure.
I wish, however, to offer a word of commendation to Tom O’Connell and the members ofthe Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights for all they have done in recent years to recognize the dedicated service of so many of our priests, as well as for their important work in serving the Catholic community by championing the cause of religious and civil rights in our increasingly secular society.
Thank you for all that you do.
